Mission: Season 1, Episode 1: "Ooze"
Location: USS Yorktown (NCC-91781)- Bridge, Deck 1
Timeline: June 24, 2403, 1449 Hours (Stardate 78023.38)

The next day, the Yorktown arrived to the coordinates of the Krolyat they would need to pass through to enter Annexari space. The Missouri's last transmission the previous evening had indicated that they were still a considerable distance behind the Yorktown, and as a result, the Bellerophon class ship would meet its Constitution III class fleet mate at Dacaris IV.

Naoe was on the helm for the early afternoon shift, which would see their arrival at the coordinates provided by General Shastakar. As predicted, Naoe's console went off, advising a drop out of warp as the coordinates were being reached.

"Captain." Naoe reported as Hikari and General Shastakar stepped out onto the bridge. "We're approaching General Shastakar's coordinates."

"Fantastic," Hikari nodded as she took her seat. "Ops, contact the Missouri and let them know we're about to drop out of warp."

"Yes, ma'am," Paisley replied, with a nod of her head. She opened a channel. =/\=MIssouri, this is the Yorktown, do you copy? We're prepping to drop out of warp. Over. =/\= Once her communication had been received and answered appropriately, Paisley clicked off the channel. "Ma'am, the Missouri has been informed," she said, from her station. She set about prepping the systems to maintain power as they dropped out of warp speed and prepped to enter the patrol zone ahead. Hopefully, they'd be let through and allowed to dock at their location, but it WAS Starfleet.

“This is where it begins,” Shuren observed aloud. Behind lay the familiar. Ahead: the next few months or even years of their lives, doing tangible work for the benefit of a suffering people. Intimidating. But exciting!

Stormcloud had himself poised at the Tactical Console as it should be. Despite the real threats being away from this section of space, He had his senses primed. Logic dictates a fair amount; there is always that small bit with human emotional reactions called anticipation that Logic seems to curb with an organized mind in control.

Stormcloud remained in his logically status ready for what could come their way.

Ashlynn remained silent while focusing on the science readouts on her console. There didn't appear to be anything out of the ordinary on sensors.

"Dropping out of warp in 3... 2... 1..." Naoe counted down as she slowed the Yorktown to impulse speed.

On cue, the warp tunnel collapsed, and they were greeted by the sight of a gargantuan construct, made up of two tower-like structures that was easily twice as tall as a Galaxy-Class was long, and bridged by two large spans that could comfortably house three starships abreast. displayed proudly on the uppermost span was a sequence of protrusions, comprised of blocks and circular insets, which at first glance seemed completely and totally meaningless, but for General Shastakar, they spelled out an old had proverb had come to be held as a symbol of great pride for all Annexari.

"Solinde, cresce savan," she recited in her native tongue. "From the soil, the seed shall grow."

"Look at the size of that thing!" Naoe muttered. "We're definitely not in Kansas anymore..."

"I've seen bigger." Halcyon murmured just loud enough for anyone to hear, "But not very often." He immediately started wondering what the structure was for, but time would tell.

Sakaan cast a glance in Halcyon's direction, then looked to the screen. 'Agreed,' she stated flatly. 'Seldom have I seen a structure this big outside of Earth Spacedock.' She arched an eyebrow as she read the readouts on her screen, 'a most remarkable structure.'

“It isn’t just that it’s massive,” Shuren said as she paced the bridge. “It’s also that they’re common. There are, what, twenty Spacedock type space stations across the entire Federation? General, how many Krolyats are there in Annexari space?”

"At least a hundred," General Shastakar responded. "All of them used as security checkpoints and garrison vessels for our military."

“That speaks to a military-industrial complex of incredible scope and scale,” replied Shuren. “One that hopefully the new government has little need of.”

"The human proverb; 'It is better to have and not need than to need and not have." Stormcloud remarked. This seems to be the mind-set of 'You can never gave too much protection?"

"That depends," Minerva gave a shrug from where she was observing the whole situation, "If it's all active military, then perhaps it's overkill. Roma Nueva has a lot of reserves, but our active military is perhaps ten percent of that?" She shook her head, "Then again, home only ever truly mobilized for major wars and we haven't had one in a while, so we haven't had the need for a full mobilization."

Ashlynn stood in awe at the structure. It wasn't anything too surprising, but she hadn't seen anything as unique as it since her days working with the Cardassians. "Think they have a large complement of labs aboard?" The science officer asked somewhat rhetorically.

"Christ," the Carjoran said. "Sorry. It's bigger than DS9, even," she said. The Carjoran had been born near the end of the Occupation of Bajor, and still remembered seeing the station as it was being towed from Terok Nor space to its current location in Bajoran airspace. She'd been about two years old. "Ma'am, the Krolyat is hailing," she said. She opened the channel. "Do you want it on the view screen, or just voice?" She asked, opening the channel.

"On screen, please," Hikari nodded.

Paisley nodded once. "Yes, ma'am," and pressed a button. A moment later, a face appeared, and she stood, quietly.

"Unidentified vessel, you are approaching restricted space," the silver-haired man on the other end informed them. "Please state your intentions or divert your course immediately; failure to yield will result in your being fired upon."

Hikari stood up from her chair and made her way over to the viewscreen. "This is Commander Hikari Karibuchi of the Federation Starship Yorktown; in cooperation with your governing body, we are here on behalf of the United Federation of Planets to assist in relief efforts, and theretofore request passage into your domain so that we may more effectively coordinate our operations."

The man on the other end of the view screen furrowed his brow. "We have received no such correspondence from the Provisional Government pertaining to the arrival of this "Fay-dă-ray-şăn" Starship that you speak of; Please provide substantiation of your claims or prepare to divert your course immediately-!"

"That will not be necessary, Căpitan," General Shastakar announced as she stood up. "We have all the proof here that you need."

"General Shastakar!" The man gasped in wide-eyed amazement. Quickly rising to his feet, he proceeded to make a fist with his right hand and pound it against his left breast. "Unoş sutemnaye!"

"Uno is what now?" Naoe asked.

"We are one," General Shastakar clarified. "It became something of a common rallying cry amongst revolutionary forces, as well as a battlefield determinant of their allegiances."

"This just keeps getting weirder..." Naoe mumbled quietly.

Shockingly easy to fake too,” Shuren added, just loud enough for Naoe to hear.

Stormcloud kept his targeting Passive; he followed the Age-old belief that a 'Fool talks while a wise man listens."

This encounter has aspects worth observing for future reference; the curiosity comes from the request for aid and dispatch of Fleet resources being approved yet no approval by those requesting aid has made it to the defenses? the sheer possibilities versus the logical chain of expected events do seem to be in conflict slightly.

General Shastakar shifted her attention back towards the viewscreen. "This relief mission, as proposed by the governing bodies of the United Federation of Planets, was reviewed and subsequently approved by the Provisional Government in a 97-to-11 voting ratio. A doctrine confirming the vote has been signed and will be forwarded to your data-banks for superiors to verify."

"Understood, General," the man nodded as he returned to his seat. "Standing by to receive."

General Shastakar turned to Hikari. "I was informed by your sister prior to my being assigned here that the doctrine has already been forwarded to your ship's computer," she explained. "It is reportedly encrypted under the access code 97C6153JXT."

Hikari nodded and turned her attention to Paisley. "You heard her, Lieutenant; prepare to forward the doctrine and corresponding access code to the Krolyat."

Paisley nodded; she was already setting course. "Yes, ma'am," she said. "Coordinates set. Hold on," she said, and punched it.

A small, yet audible chirp could be heard on the Krolyat's end of the comlink.

"Doctrine received, "Fay-dă-ray-şăn" Starship," the man reported. "Forwarding to Administration for processing; please stand by."

"Revolutions come and go, but bureaucracy is eternal," Shuren mused quietly with a smirk as she took her place next to the Captain.

'It's the one universal constant. And needed to keep civilization functioning,' Sakaan said from her station, watching the sensor telemetry on the Krolyat with fascination. She wondered how effective these large, imposing mobile barriers really were to prevent clandestine entry to their space. A cloaked ship would be an interesting conundrum indeed.

"Bureaucracy is essential to a well-run government, though too much of it can really be a hindrance to governing." Halcyon stated as he stood and walked more towards the center of the room, but staying on the outside, "Too little and everything gets gummed up, too much and nothing gets done as everyone tries to do the same job and take credit for it by checking everyone else's work. It's like the old story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears in way."

""Fay-dă-ray-şăn" Starship, your doctrine has been assessed and subsequently verified by Administration," the man finally radioed back. "Please proceed into the center space between the two inner spans and hold position while we scan your vessel for contraband; this a routine procedure, and won't take more than ten minutes."

"Roger that," Hikari nodded, before turning to Naoe. "Lieutenant, set a course for between the inner spans; remember not to pass all the way through them until we've received the go-ahead."

"Aye, sir." Naoe responded, her fingers moving to adjust the Yorktown's speed. "Slowing to one quarter impulse."

Hikari next turned her attention to Paisley. "Lieutenant F'Rar, you may want to forward a copy of that doctrine to the Missouri so they can show it to the Krolyat staff upon their arrival."

"Yes, ma'am," she said, forwarding a copy to the Missouri's Ops officer, and saving one to her personal PADD, too, just in case.

"Logic would dictate that the list of contraband should be made available also to stream-line procedures I think." Stormcloud said from his Tactical console.

"Good idea," Shuren said, nodding. "If the Missouri is carrying anything the Kroylat crew consider contraband, however innocuous to us, they can get rid of it now."

"I will inform them," Paisley said, and sent a communique. "Anything else I should relay?" She asked the two commanding officers.

"And full stop." Naoe reported, interrupting the conversation. "We are at the requested coordinates, Captain."

Sakaan looked to the captain. 'Do they understand we can simply replicate anything they consider to be 'contraband'? Not to mention, I don't believe we come under their jurisdiction within our own hulls.'

"Clearly, these guys have more holes in their screening procedures than a block of swiss cheese," Hikari smirked, before turning to Paisley. "Lieutenant, it may behoove us to inform the Krolyat staff that we possess equipment that is capable of replicating items that may be considered as "Contraband," and would like to request the protocols governing the usage of said equipment within their borders."

Paisley nodded again. "Yes, ma'am," after a moment, she pressed some buttons, and the message had been forwarded. "Forwarded via Relay. Do you want me to send it as a holonote, too?" She asked.

"Might as well cover all our bases," Hikari nodded.

The Carjoran nodded once, and pressed a few buttons. "Alright, done," she said. She just hoped that this would work; they could get the General, make sure she was safe, and get the hell out.

Stormcloud tied into the passive sensory net; a little added information about the tech of those we are operating within their confines is always of use. He could not keep a lock of any sort but the impressions from passive scans can highlight potential targets or threats.

""Fay-dă-ray-şăn" Starship, your concerns regarding the usage of "replication" equipment within our borders have been taken into consideration," the operator radioed back. "As a precautionary measure, we shall be sending over a team of supervisors to ensure that you are using your equipment for the intents and purposes that you say you are; this will be an indefinite posting, so please ensure that suitable accommodations are provided."

"Roger that, Administration," Hikari nodded before turning to General Shastakar. "General, meet me down in Transporter Room One; as an Annexari yourself, I think you would be best suited to get our "guests" orientated."

General Shastakar silently nodded in the affirmative.

From the helm, Naoe merely rolled her eyes. As if one of these assholes wasn't enough, now they'd be playing host to an entire platoon of them...

Paisley herself let out a sigh. "I'll prep the docking procedures," she said. Let the games begin!
