Mission: Season 1, Episode 0: "A Time To Heal"
Location: Moonlight Oasis Bar and Grill, Deck 6

The Moonlight Oasis Bar and Grill as usual was bustling with crewmembers from across the Yorktown in various attire. Some were wearing their normal duty uniforms, others were dressed in fancy attires, and some like Ashlynn, were wearing their normal off-duty clothing.

While it was busy, it made sense since the joint was official opened a short time ago. She preferred to spend time in the more quiet lounges, but it didn't bother her.

She was sitting at the bar, with a shot of replicated Jack Daniels whisky, with the alcohol replaced with the synthetic stuff. She was off for the night so she figured to grab a drink before going retiring to her quarters for the night.

This seemed a good place for the socializing; taverns and such were the gather places on Bajor; the opening of this establishment reminded Sovon of places on Bajor. It was the end of a longer than normal shift of his new command and he found himself with some extra time.

It was comforting to be out of uniform; the Bajoran Robes had been in the closet too long. He had need of something from home, rumors that a specialty of the house fell within the desires of Sovon drew him here. The crowds are within his tolerance and while feeling a bit melancholy, he would hide in the crowd and observe the intricacies of crew interaction.

Being crowded as usual the open seating did not appeal logically as he is alone so a seat at the bar is a logical choice. The nearest open seat is beside a woman in casual attire it did not take him more than a question to himself for the answer. He had naturally memorized the senior staff ; his first line of duty protection so the woman seated is both known but unfamiliar.

Sovon moved to the open chair but did not immediately take it per tradition from Earth. knowing the rumor true as he had helped supply the Bar and Grill with genuine Bajoran Sweet Wine.

"May I occupy this open chair Ms. Regan? Sovon asked politely.

Ash had been lost in her thoughts before hearing Sovon. She jumped slightly. Not his fault by any means since she'd been distracted. She motioned to the chair. "Be my guest" she said warmly to the Lieutenant.

She did recognize him even though he was still fairly new to the ship. To be fair, Ash always made it a priority to at least check who the Security Chief was when coming aboard given how vital they truly were to the ship. But that might've been habit from when she served under James, and from her intelligence days.

"Thank you, we have not crossed paths officially." He gave an upper body bow slightly. "I am Sovon Stormcloud." He said as he took the seat.

Ashlynn nodded in return. "Ashlynn Regan" she extended a hand for a greeting. "I'm the Yorktown's Chief Science Officer."

"We shall be working together in the near future with Planet Fall as I am to allot security support for your teams." Sovom commented. "That can wait for official time." Just as his sweet Wine arrived. "I tend to turn off the Working Mind when it comes to Family , friends and relaxing drink." He might have chuckled if not so neutral in his expression.

"That's understandable. For me the drinks help with the stresses of the job" she said half-jokingly.

"Logical understanding of what it takes to cope is half the battle one might say." Sovon commented.

Ash chuckled. "Damn straight."

He offered his wine in toast.

"To social drinking as form of relief." Sovon offered as toast.

"Here here" she said simply before raising up her own glass.

"Ashlyn, you are what humans can call a typical female, yes?" Sovon asked.

"Define typical" she quipped.

"Biologically with an emotional based influence over your actions rather than the Logical and systematic to the actions you take with the opposite sex on a regular basis." Sovon asked.

"I suppose so. I'm also not the type of woman to take offense at everything a man says if they've said nothing wrong" she said honestly.

"If I have ..." Sovon needed to chose his words. "emotional complications with my beloved might I be able to consult for what is called a 'feminine vantage point ' with you to help me with my Logic Square."

"I suppose. What's on your mind?" She asked the Vulcan.

"It might not be as complex as I make it out to be." Sovon started. "I was passing her while in talks with a subordinate so I did not interrupt, Logical not to be intruding, Peta followed me and a light scolding for not stopping and interjecting myself to disrupt the flow of conversation just to give Peta a greeting? I am not sure that I am ... incorrect in my actions?"

Ashlynn thought for a moment. "Hmm. What was her tone when she scolded you?"

"Hands on hips and conversational volume with a snide tone." Sovon remembered. "Correcting me that she will always have time for her husband. That is a direct quote also that she is never too deep a conversation for me to greet her."

Nodding that he had relayed the facts.

"It is not illogical to break an inter-departmental discussion simply to acknowledge a person she sees all the time." He posed his point.

Ash nodded. "Exactly. It means she loves you and doesn't mind when her husband interrupts a meeting to talk to her" she chuckled. "I'm also not saying that the opposite would mean that she doesn't."

"That being said, I don't know how she is, but there are times that people do want space and time to be alone. If she does, that doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. If that does happen just give her some space" Ashlynn added.

"Allowing her space is logical; constant togetherness does tend to lead to what humans call stagnation." Sovon seemed puzzled for a second. "I suppose longer we are married will yield better understanding."

"That is for sure" Ashlynn began. "How long have y'all been married?"

"Three weeks three days fifteen hours and ten seconds." Stormcloud replied.

Ash nodded. "Then the will definitely be the case. Make sure you communicate with her your needs, as well as about hers. Communication is key."

"Logical." Sovon admitted and raised his glass. "So what 'Woes' have brought you here at this hour Ms. Regan, if I might be so bold as too ask?"

She took a sip of her drink before setting it down. "Long day I suppose. Even with the addition of Doctor Vale in the science department we're still short staffed. Just one of those days" Ash said. She wasn't lying. But that wasn't the complete reason why she was there even if she wouldn't admit it to herself, or anyone else for that matter.

Body language is a significant way of communicating whiteout speech; the body often gives away subtle hints that are not readily noted. In this case Sovon had logically noticed the demeanor of his conversation mate; it opened a whole new communication method. WHile his wife is a counselor; even on Bajor as a Vedek candidate, SOvon had understood the power of observing people to get to know them better and thus be able to aid then in time of need. While he accepted her words there is subtle things that she had not said according to her body language.

This occupied Sovon's mind as he carried on speaking with her.

"Yes, having the new commission and filling a full staff takes time and experiance with the eccentricities of the Commando to make the decisions on what is a full staff, I can understand where it might vex you a bit." He commented.

"Tell me about it" she said rhetorically before chuckling.

"Logically I see why you drink." Stormcloud commented flatly.

Ash laughed before taking another sip.
